Why a Sub Sale?

In August some of the youth from KIND will have an opportunity to go to summer camp.
To help offset the supply cost we are selling subs.
Children that participate will be chosen first to go to camp.

Summer Program 2010

The 2010 Summer Program is underway and going fast. We have welcomed back some old friends like the S.M.A.R.T. Program, E.F.N.E.P., Diablo Music, Visual Arts and Poetess Ida Stevenson to our roster of classes and activities. This summer K.I.N.D. has partnered with the Trotwood YMCA for a weekly swimming/training day that will be preparing them for a Triathlon in August. Expressive Dance, Tech Prep and drama/skit teams are all a possible experience this summer at K.I.N.D. This summer we will also be going on fishing trips and horseback riding along with roller skating. It might be a long hot summer, but at K.I.N.D. it`s a cool way to spend your summer.

After School 2009-2010 Report

The 2009 / 2010 after school program were so successful that we to develop a waiting list as the number of registrations just kept on coming in throughout the year. Programs like S.M.A.R.T. (Science Mathematics’ Attracting Ready Talent) a cooking class that teaches the science and math behind cooking, E.F.N.E.P. (Extended Food and Nutrition education Program), The Boonshoft Museums “exhibits to go“ and All Kids Can Learn (our tutoring program) is just a few of the things we offer during our after school program. Daily homework help, dinner and fun games, activities and crafts make K.I.N.D. the place to be after school.

After their educational activities, the children are divided into age and skill level for group activities. These may include art projects, games, character lessons, reading time, Bible lessons, computers, and exercise. Before the children are transported home, KIND volunteers provide a nutritious meal, which is served family-style with staff and volunteers.

About once a month, children who have behaved well and shown kindness toward others earn the privilege of going on a field trip. These trips are designed to be both educational and fun, and give many of the children the chance to go to places they normally wouldn’t get to experience – again emphasizing the many opportunities that are available to them if only they are willing to work toward them.

After School Program

Our fall after school session grew to an attendance of 45-50 kids a day. We offer the children homework help, specialized tutoring, woodcarving, crafts, games, Bible study and life skills classes. The winter session we will be adding nutrition, health and exercise classes this session.

Our winter session will introduce a complete health and fitness program focusing on the physical, emotional and spiritual health of our kids. All Kids Can Learn tutoring service, Boonshoft Exhibits to go, the S.M.A.R.T. (science and math attracting ready talent) cooking program along with the Ohio State EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program) are just a few of the opportunities that we will offer our children as part of our commitment to giving opportunities to the children of east Dayton.

With everything we do for the kids it is the love, kindness and open ears and hearts for these young ones who we care about and for them all so very much.

Summer program

2009 saw the biggest and best summer program we have ever had at KIND. An avg. of 91 kids and teens joined us for activities that ranged from the arts to the parks and the true meaning of what it takes to be a “SUPER HERO“. Although funds were limited this year to the tough economic times it did not stop the KIND staff from giving it their all and then some. What we couldn’t afford we improvised on such as field trips. The staff found fun and exciting places to go that were inexpensive and still packed with fun and adventure. 2009 was definitely a summer to remember. We can’t wait till 2010

The 2010 Summer program will begin in early June with summer registrations beginning in April
